CT families set to start receiving child tax refunds this week: Governor – NBC Connecticut

State officials said Thursday that Connecticut’s 2022 child tax rebate checks are on the way and families should begin receiving them in the coming days.

Governor Ned Lamont held a press conference Thursday morning with Department of Tax Services Commissioner Mark Boughton.

The Department of Tax Services expects most rebates to be mailed out by the end of this week and families should begin receiving them within the next few days, according to the governor’s office.

Eligible families had to apply by July 31 to receive $250 per child, up to $750 per family.

Lamont said last week that youThe state would begin sending child tax refund checks this week.

As many as 300,000 families were eligible and the Connecticut Department of Revenue received 238,668 applications, representing 369,863 dependents, according to the governor’s office.

Rebates have been approved for 189,374 families on behalf of 317,044 children and those rebates are being sent out this week, according to the governor’s office.

According to the governor’s office, an additional 32,808 requests are being reviewed and all approved remissions in this group are expected to be released in early September.

Boughton said they expected to have sent 200,000 to 210,000 checks.

Any Connecticut resident who reported at least one dependent child, age 18 or younger, on their 2021 federal tax return could have been eligible, according to the governor’s office.
