A record number of people are falling victim to online fraud attempts, but there’s no guarantee that your bank will refund the lost money. Jenny, 31, was distraught when fraudsters posing as her bank made off with her savings of £17,000. Money Clinic helped her take her case to the UK Financial Ombudsman, and in this episode host Claer Barrett explains how listeners can use the free ombudsman service to seek compensation themselves. In addition, Pat Hurley, the Chief Ombudsman of the Financial Ombudsman Service, and Katy Worobec, Managing Director of Economic Crime at the banking organization UK Finance, provide valuable fraud prevention tips.
