Increase in Solar Rebate Eligibility | Brimbank and North West

The state government is set to expand the eligibility of new homes under construction, including those in Brimbank, to access the solar panel rebate under the Solar Homes scheme.

The changes will reduce installation costs by $800 for homeowners installing panels when wiring electricity to their new home, as well as an average of $1,073 per year in energy costs.

Under the changes, eligible Victorians building homes will be able to apply for a $1,400 rebate and will be able to access a $1,400 interest-free loan to install solar panels during construction.

Solar Homes Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the changes would help relieve some of the pressure homeowners are feeling due to rising energy prices.

“Extending solar homes to new builds will help tens of thousands of Victorians save thousands of dollars in electricity costs and help us cut emissions by 50% by 2030,” she said. declared.

“We’re putting electricity back into the hands of Victorian households – cutting energy costs and increasing supply, creating thousands of jobs and cutting solar installation costs for new builds by the hundreds. .”

Claimants must use an authorized Solar Victoria dealer and install a product on the Approved Product List to qualify for the rebate.
