Indigo Airlines gives discount on pineapple shipment to Delhi and Kolkata

Agartala, June 26, 2022: Responding quickly to the Tripura government’s request, Indigo Airlines has revised its airfares for transporting pineapples from the state. Chief Secretary Kumar Alok said in a tweet that farmers would pay Rs 12 per kilo for transport to New Delhi and set Rs 9 per kilo for transport to Kolkata.

“During our follow-up, Indigo reduced the shipping price of pineapple to Kolkata and Delhi. Now farmers have to pay Rs 12/kg to Delhi and Rs 9/kg to Kolkata for more 300 kg of pineapples. Our farmers will now be able to ship large quantities of pineapples,” the Chief Secretary tweeted.

Meanwhile, in a separate program, Tripura Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Pranajit Singha Roy reported a shipment of six metric tons of pineapples to New Delhi from the Horticultural Research Complex in Nagicherra, in West Tripura district.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony kicked off, Singha Roy said, “Previous governments fell behind and did not use the pineapple of the ‘Queen’ variety as an image boosting resource. of State. After the formation of our government, His Excellency the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind declared it a state fruit on 07th June 2018. He also said that “consecutive shipments of ‘Queen’ pineapples will leave Tripura for other states until August this year, while ‘Kew’ variety will be sent to domestic markets in the last four months of 2022”.
