Man scams woman out of Rs 1 lakh via Paytm vouchers; stopped

New Delhi: Dwarka Police Station Cyber ​​Cell apprehended a guy who allegedly defrauded innocent people using the Paytm mobile app. Rashid Khan, from Alwar district in Rajasthan, has been identified as the accused. Recently, the accused allegedly defrauded a woman of Rs 1 lakh using Paytm coupons.
Police say the accused also defrauded others using Paytm vouchers and was apprehended on the basis of technological surveillance, according to a news outlet. India today reported.

The police also found a mobile phone and a SIM card used in the crime in the possession of the accused. The issue came to light when a complaint of cheating was lodged at the Cyber ​​Unit at Dwarka Police Station in the nation’s capital.

The complainant said that after placing an ad on OLX for the sale of headphones, she received a phone call. According to her, the caller promised her Rs 12,000 in the form of a Paytm voucher. After five transactions, the fraudster asked him to verify the voucher. The victim later discovered that transactions totaling Rs 99,000 had taken place without his knowledge, India today reported.

Data from the accused’s phone number was collected and details of the call records were analyzed throughout the police investigation. The accused was apprehended on the basis of a technological analysis.
